Welcome potential exhibitors!
The annual meeting of the Southwestern Social Science Association will be held at the beautiful Riviera and Convention Center on the Las Vegas Strip. As Executive Director, I am pleased to invite you to participate in our annual meeting by displaying books, journals, technology, and other materials at our conference, and by advertising in our convention program.
Our conference regularly attracts about 1,000 attendees representing the major social science disciplines, such as Economics, History, Political Science, and Sociology, and interdisciplinary and applied fields, such as International Studies, Women's & Gender Studies, and Social Work. This year, we have also added Psychology and Anthropology programs to our offerings. This is our first visit to San Diego but expect that the lovely venue will draw large numbers of participants, including new attendees.

Why you should exhibit and advertise with SSSA 2012
Our conference attendees represent a wide range of institutions, making the conference an excellent opportunity to gain exposure for your titles, and the timing is excellent for the fall course adoption cycle. All the conference attendees receive the program, and use it throughout their time at the conference to plan personal schedules, giving program advertisers wide exposure.
Attendees at our annual meeting are faculty and graduate students from nearly all the major state universities in the Southwestern and Southern states, including the Universities of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Texas A&M, and other major universities nationwide, including from the California system of colleges and universities. We also attract teachers from a wide range of smaller schools, including regional universities, liberal arts colleges, and community colleges.
The largest disciplines in our association are in the fields of history, political science and sociology, making this a particularly good conference for marketing your books to those areas. The interdisciplinary nature of our conference promotes the cutting edge of the modern college curricula, and provides a unique and diverse audience for your products.
The 2012 SSSA Exhibitor Package
We are pleased to announce that in order to make this conference more affordable and attractive to you, we are offering attractive exhibitor prices and introducing new marketing opportunities for your press.
First, recognizing the higher cost of doing business these days, last year we reduced our base booth rental prices to 2006 levels, and we're keeping them there this year.
Second, every exhibitor will be listed on our online Exhibitors Directory, and we will be happy to hyperlink directly to your company's website. This page will be prominently linked off of our Annual Meeting page, the most visited page on our site.
Third, each of our exhibitors will receive a complimentary half-page advertisement in our 2012 Program (a $200 value!). This will provide ongoing exposure to our conference attendees, since every attendee receives the program and uses it throughout their conference, and afterward. You are also eligible to upgrade your ad to a full page in the program at a steeply discounted rate.

Booth Services Package
In recognition of the high cost of travel to attend our meetings and the current economy, we are offering exhibition booth services to those who exhibit at our conference, including the option of SSSA providing an attendant for your booth during operating hours.
Included in your exhibitor package (Gold, Silver, or Bronze)...
- SSSA will arrange complimentary arrangement of your space and materials.
- You may send books, journals, or other materials for display. (While materials cannot be returned they may be donated to the Southwestern Sociological Association Minority Auction to benefit the ASA Minority Fellowship, or provided to members upon request. If you choose the first option, we will send you a receipt for the donation to this 501(c)(3) organization.)
For only $200 more...
- SSSA will provide an attendant for your booth during all operating hours of exhibits and will forward business cards, information requests, etc. from interested individuals back to your designated representative following the meeting. (Our exhibition hall will be open for a minimum of 20 hours between 3 pm Wednesday, April 4 and 5 pm Friday, April 6.)

Logistics in San Diego
In San Diego, we will work to maximize traffic through the exhibit booth area. First, our registration center will be in the exhibit hall or in the hallway adjacent to it, while conference information booths and complimentary internet cafe will be located in the same room as the exhibit booths. Second, we offer complimentary morning coffee and afternoon refreshments in the exhibit hall (yes, these are complimentary for your representatives) to attract conference attendees to this area. Third, we set up cocktail and small meeting tables in order to encourage attendees to meet and socialize in the exhibit hall.
The exhibit area will be secured by the association and the hotel when it is not scheduled to be open, though we advise not leaving computer equipment in the convention space overnight. Each of your representatives will have a conference name badge available at the conference registration desk.
