In 2010 SSSA will be based in the lovely Houston Hyatt Regency (1200 Louisiana St., Houston, TX 77002), with additional rooms reserved a block away at the beautiful Doubletree (400 Dallas Street, Houston, TX 77002-4777). The hotels are connected by an enclosed walkway.
Hotel reservations at the negotiated rates are now open, and the deadline for hotel reservations at the negotiated rates is February 28, 2010. After that, the hotels are not obligated to grant attendees the negotiated rates.
If you register online, you will automatically be linked to SSSA rates. If you register by phone, tell the reservation agent you are with the SSSA conference to get qualifying rates.

Both hotels are within walking distance of the Houston Theatre District, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park, Bayou Place Entertainment Complex, Sam Houston Park, the Downtown Aquarium, and the new Light Rail. Houston's new light rail system connects downtown to Reliant Park Stadium, Arena, event facilities, and Astrodome.
A Note from the Site Selection CommitteeIt is very important for conference attendees to stay at our conference hotels. SSSA's ability to negotiate favorable room rates and to obtain meeting rooms at affordable rates depends on conference attendees filling a minimum number of "room nights" in the conference hotels. If the Association does not meet its contractual obligation of room nights, we are liable to the hotels for large fees.
Airports
The two major airports serving Houston are Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to the north and Houston Hobby Airport (HOU) to the south.
