Registration policies and procedures

  • All conference attendees and program participants must register for the conference.
  • Registration credentials, including name badge, name badge holder, and printed conference program will be distributed at the conference registration desk at the Hyatt Regency.
  • Early Bird Registration
    • Early Bird Registrations and regular registrations received will be confirmed by e-mail. Please print this e-mail confirmation, retain it for your records, and bring it to the registration desk at the conference. This will make it easier to resolve registration discrepancies promptly.
  • Attendees claiming student classification must provide as proof a valid current student identification card; early bird registrants should send a photocopy to the address shown on the registration form (be sure to block out social security or student ID numbers), or show their card to the staff at the conference registration desk. Without a valid student ID card, attendees will be charged the professional rate.
  • SSSA Hotel & Convention Registration Policy (see the full policy here). Registration rates for people not staying at the conference hotel include a $30 surcharge.
    • In 2010, exceptions to the surcharge will be made for attendees living or associated with high schools, colleges, universities, companies, or agencies located within 100 miles of the Hyatt Regency Houston.
    • If you claim that you qualify for an exception to the policy, you will be asked for proof of your local residency, employment, or enrollment, such as a driver's license, business card, or other form of identification card. Without such proof, the SSSA Hotel and Conference Registration Policy and surcharge will apply. Google Maps (http://maps.google.com) will be the authoritative measure of distance from the conference hotel to the location in question.
    • The hotel's master listing of SSSA room block guests will be our core reference document showing whether attendees are staying at the hotel. In the unlikely case that you are staying at the conference hotel, but your name is not on the hotel's list, please bring proof of your hotel registration to the conference registration staff.

International attendees: All attendees traveling internationally to our conference may register at the pre-registration rate, even when registering on-site. Additionally, each affiliate receives two scholarships for international attendee registration. You should contact your affiliate program chair for information about how they will distribute those scholarships

It is the policy of the SSSA to post its preliminary programs on the Association website, and to archive them on the Association website for future reference. By registering for this conference, you acknowledge that you have read this statement;  are fully aware of this policy; agree to abide by and be bound by it; and by so doing,  waive your right to not have your program information (name and institutional affiliation) kept online.
